Knife gate valves are used within applications with solid-loaded fluids, such as in waste-water treatment, both for flow regulation as well as ON-OFF use. The overall design of a knife gate valve allows it to be much flatter and thinner in comparison to other types of valves. This article presents new developments in knife gate valves for water applications, especially a new one with a patent pending new design which has a special mono block body. Valves used in water management have to withstand enormous loads, high water pressures, critical flow velocities as well as extreme temperatures and weather conditions, whether in tropical climates or in the desert. The paper presents valves which help to precisely control the complex processing systems required for this and to make them even more efficient through automation.
