In 2014, plans were initiated for acquiring a new induction heating plant in Siegen, Germany. This project has its origins in the 1980s when a joint research project by the University of Siegen, RWTH Aachen University and Boschgotthardshütte (BGH) focused on the concept of quenching from the hot working temperature. The motivation behind the installation of an innovative, multi-zone induction heating plant was the simplification of the complex heat treatment process in order to make efficient use of resources when heat treating stainless steels and simultaneous improvement of the properties of the steel bars.
