Italy is the second European country for the number of installed biogas plants. In the last ten years Italian investors focused on the production of renewable electricity. Due to the decrease in subsidies, this market has lost interest. Thanks to the Decree 02 March 2018, the biomethane market is currently beginning to develop. Subsidies will be given only in the case of use of biomethane in the transport sector. Thanks to the presence of more than 1 million natural gas vehicles, investments over € 4 billion are expected in the next four years.
