In many processes, efficient heating of flowing gaseous media is of key importance. A newly developed flow heater allows electrical heating of gases from 20 to 1,200 °C in a single step using metallic heating systems. This opens up new possibilities in future technologies and processes. Power densities of 20 MW/m³ enable highly efficient heating and save expensive installation space. Typically, flow heaters are designed to work directly at line voltage and are able to achieve accuracy of less than ± 1 K flow temperature with customary power control units.
