Inductors are sometimes considered the weakest link in an induction hardening system because they carry significant electrical power while being operated in hostile working environments including intense cyclic heating and cooling, as well as the presence of smoke, steam, quench fluid, and airborne particles that negatively affect the coil life. Hardening inductors are also subjected to mechanical movement and occasionally sudden part contact.
