From energy user to energy supplier: a new business model for industrial furnace manufacturers and their customers?

This paper introduces short & medium/long term approaches concerning energy savings & environmental impact which are illustrated from practical example (Case Studies) from steel industry. o On a short term by improvement of energy efficiency of existing equipments thanks to implementation of Best Available Technologies (B.A.T.) for revampings. o On a medium term thanks to application of new developments and global approach o On a medium/long term thanks to new processes resulting to R&D leading to possible breaktrough vs. known technologies. Most of the time, it will be evidenced that there is a need to implement a new business model, involving more actors than furnace manufacturers and customers.The given examples are easily applicable to all energy intensive industries producing materials.
