The paper presents the results of two German research projects [1, 2] and two German-Romanian research co-operations [3, 4] referring to the electromagnetic processing and control of molten metals. The main object of the researches consists in the finding and development of new methods and systems for the following metallurgical procedures: mould stirring in the continuous casting and melt positioning in the direct strip casting of steel, levitation melting and flow rate control as well as the inductive determination of the alloys homogeneity. The applicability of all proposed methods was experimentally examined and proved by laboratory, respectively industrial tests and measurements.
