The use of new sustainable gases (e.g. biomethane, Biogas, SNG) is increasing worldwide, in particular because their use can lead to a reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases[1]. Since their introduction, gas Distribution and Transmission System Operators (DSOs and TSOs) have nevertheless raised questions about the impact of these gases on their grids. In this context, Kiwa Technology has participated in the research programme Energy Delta Gas Research (EDGaR) in order to evaluate the effects of different types of new sustainable gases on the materials present in existing gas networks.
