PDF Download

The Open Process Automation Standard and the VDI/VDE/NAMUR 2658 standard aim at standardizing open process automation systems. The objective of this article is to compare and align these standards regarding the aspects of modularity, interoperability, plant coordination and configuration. An automation concept based on two types of components is introduced and validated. Using standardized interfaces, this approach enables a simple, vendor-independent exchangeability of components. In addition, a corresponding engineering workflow is presented.
