Pyrolysis gases generated in biomass gasification reactors are subject to high temperatures and mostly low pressure levels. In addition, such gases contain several undesirable components like dust, tar, sulphur, high water content (steam) and provide only low calorific heating values. Due to the fact that up to date there are no reliable fans on the market for transportation of such hot gases (temperatures up to 800 °C), it is still very difficult and costly to utilize these pyrolysis gases by conventional burner systems in an economically and ecologically efficient manner. Thus a specifically combustion system is required.
