In modern industrial furnace constructions, the use of high-temperature insulation wool products combined with modified burner systems and state-of-the-art furnace control systems in the temperature range from 600 to 1800 °C creates new possibilities for increasing productivity and improving quality. Thanks to the lower gas supply requirement for high-temperature processes enabled by this combination, considerable energy and CO2 emission savings can be achieved. This report shows that with professional implementation of the integrated concept in partnerships among the user, the furnace builder and the supplier of refractories, heat treatment can be made more efficient, and jobs consequently safeguarded in Germany and Europe, too.
