This paper provides an overview of challenges which are being faced by the German industry, especially by its gas industry. It focuses on the feasibility of the widespread use of liquefied natural gas (further referred to as LNG) in the German economy. LNG applications in the energy and transportation sectors are considered while some technical requirements to regasified LNG (further referred to as NG) will be discussed as well. The paper also highlights the potential benefits which can be achieved both by network-connected and non-network LNG marketing.
