In the following contribution, the impact of restructuring and unbundling of the energy transportation companies based on the storage of natural gas in underground storages and here in particular the example of the EWE underground gas storage Jemgum from the point of view of measurement are considered. Starting from a conceptual overview, the detailed tasks of metering, such as accurate determination of the volume, determine the gas quality and the provision of process- as well as legal custody privacy and security. In summary, the authors give an outlook how they rated the future developments of measurement technology for underground gas storage.
