Cold forging is a proven process for the production of rotationally symmetrical components for the automotive industry. To achieve good formability, case-hardening steels are isothermally annealed or spheroidizing annealed. In addition, post treatment is time-consuming to ensure that the microstructure, straightness and surface quality of the steel meet the requirements. These processes are important prerequisites for the further processing of case-hardened precision parts. Together with the cold forming industry, Deutsche Edelstahlwerke (DEW) has developed an alternative to the classic heat treatment processes. The result: leaner process chains and improved material properties.
