Vertical furnace for heat treatment of heavy forgings

During the last few years emergent Countries increased their investments in the energetic field, especially for the electric power production plants. Società delle Fucine S.r.l., a company of the ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni Group, world leader in the production of high quality forgings made of carbon steel, high and medium alloyed and stainless steels through an integrated and modern production process, to meet the growing demand about large forgings for turbine and generator rotors, ordered the realization of a further vertical furnace for high quality heat treatments. Tecnocentro eng. Srl., an engineering company providing services and turn key plant since the Eighties for iron and steel industries, was chosen to design and supply the new vertical furnace described in this paper.
